REC 397 - Collegiate and Professional Sport Management


This course serves as an overview to the field of sport management and provides an opportunity for the exploration of effective management strategies and the body of knowledge associated with pursuing a career in sport management, specifically within professional and collegiate sport settings. Content will focus on the history, leadership, marketing, facility and event management, and financial principles within professional and collegiate sport. Additionally, topics specific to professional sport will cover communications, analytics, sales, sponsorships and licensing, while collegiate sport concepts will focus on governing bodies, compliance and Title IX, academics and eligibility, media relations, alumni relations and support services.

Credit Hours: 3

Prerequisite Courses: REC 265 , REC 270 .
Additional Restrictions/Requirements: Restricted to REC majors.
Course Repeatability: Course may not be repeated.
