The College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts offers an interdisciplinary B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. This degree program is designed to provide a distinctive learning experience for re-enrolling students, advanced transfer students, and currently enrolled UNCW students with at least junior standing who change majors. Students electing this program must have previously completed at least 60 credits (transfer credits may count towards this total) and be in good academic standing.
Students may declare as Pre-IDS if they have 60 credit hours (including transfer hours). They may declare IDS once they have 80 credit hours, or have successfully completed IDS 200 with a grade of “C” or better.
The goal of the program is for students to acquire a core liberal arts education combined with focused knowledge and skills. The integrative program curriculum will draw on prior course work while allowing students to complete their education by focusing on a particular option such as Enterprise and Economy; Global Challenges and Problems; Justice, Social Insitutions and Human Behavior; Artificial Intelligence and Technology in the Arts and Sciences; Interdisciplinary Arts and Humanities; or Human Wellbeing.
