Actuarial Science Certificate

Actuarial work has been consistently considered as one of the best jobs because of its high demand, great job security, nice salary, and on-the-job training provided by employers.
This certificate program will provide guidance for actuarial study at UNCW, and ensure comprehensive training in economics, finance, mathematics and statistics. It features two courses preparing students for exam P and exam FM. Students are expected to take both of the exams, and qualify for all the Validation of Educational Experience (VEE) requirements for the associate of actuaries. The student’s transcript will list the certificate along with other degrees earned.

Registration
The Certificate in Actuarial Science appears in UNCW’s catalogue as a certificate degree option. Students may log in to UNCW SeaPort, and add the certificate program through “Major declaration/Curricular updates”.
Admission Requirements:
In order to be admitted to the program, students must achieve a minimum grade of ‘C-’ for each of the following courses:
Program Requirements: A total of 21-22 credit hours.
Core courses:
A total of 12 credit hours:
Electives:
A total of 9-10 credit hours from the following courses. Students are required to complete at least one of the following three course sequences.
Additional Information:
Students must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA or above to be in the program, and are expected to take Exams P and FM before the conclusion of the program.
