International Studies Minor

Requirements for a Minor in International Studies:

21-24 hours. Courses to be distributed as follows:

INT 105 - Introduction to International Studies Credit Hours: 3
INT 300 - Interdisciplinarity and International Studies Credit Hours: 3
And at least two additional core courses from at least two different categories:

Geographic/Environmental Awareness. One of:

BIO 150 - Humans and Ecology Credit Hours: 3
EVS 195 - Introduction to Environmental Sciences Credit Hours: 3
EVS 205 - Global Environmental Issues Credit Hours: 3
GGY 101 - Modern World Geography Credit Hours: 3
GGY 180 - World Regional Geography Credit Hours: 3
OCN 150 - Introduction to Oceanography Credit Hours: 3

Political/Economic Awareness. One of:

INT 200 - Global Capitalism and its Discontents Credit Hours: 3
INT 215 - Interdisciplinary Approaches to the Politics of Globalization Credit Hours: 3

Social/Cultural Awareness. One of:

ANT 105 - Introduction to Anthropology Credit Hours: 3
ANT 205 - Human Societies Credit Hours: 3
ENG 111 - Introduction to Literature Global Emphasis Credit Hours: 3
ENG 225 - World Literature to 1600 Credit Hours: 3

Additional Requirements:

International Experience Requirements: 3 hours of international experience, as approved by Director (credit may count toward other requirements in the minor), including:
INT 294 - International Student Exchange Credit Hours: 12
INT 394 - International Student Exchange Credit Hours: 1 To 12
INT 494 - International Student Exchange Credit Hours: 12
At least three additional courses from one of the International Studies concentrations - Arts & Literature, Environment, Globalization, Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, or Middle East. Two of the courses must be selected from the 300-level or above and must included at least one INT course.

A grade of ‘C’ (2.0) or better is required in all courses counted toward the minor.
