Leadership Studies Minor

The Watson College of Education offers an interdisciplinary minor in leadership studies for students in all majors. This minor provides students with an understanding of leadership theory and practice from multidimensional perspectives. Opportunities to engage in leadership experiences and challenges in a variety of contexts are also provided. Students complement core requirements with courses in a variety of academic disciplines. Students should contact the coordinator in the Watson College of Education for additional information.

Program Objectives
- Understand leadership theory and practice from multidimensional perspectives, content knowledge, ethical and professional standards, & diversity.
- Understand the consequences of leadership decisions, informed decision making and reflective practices.
- Engage in leadership experiences and challenges in a variety of contexts, diversity reflective practice, and technological competence.
- Participate in classroom and out-of-classroom, personal challenge activities that emphasize structured self-growth, reflective practice, technological competence and effective communications.
Requirements for a Minor in Leadership Studies:
Including 9 hours in core courses:
Elective Courses:
Students select an additional 9 hours of elective courses in three academic areas from an approved list. For a list of approved elective courses, students should contact the coordinator of the leadership studies minor.
Additional Information:
Students must have a “C” average (2.00) in courses counted for the minor. |
