Gerontology Minor

The School of Health and Applied Human Sciences offers an interdisciplinary minor in gerontology that focuses on the study of older adults and the aging process. The minor draws on courses from a variety of disciplines, such as sociology, psychology, public health, recreation therapy, gerontology, and social work. The minor is designed for students with a general interest in aging, and will help prepare students for careers that involve working with older adults. Students are encouraged to obtain field experience in local agencies serving older adults. Students should contact the coordinator for additional information.

Applied Learning Requirement:


To satisfy the applied learning requirement for a minor in gerontology a student must successfully complete GRN 101  and GRN 440 .

A “C” (2.00) or better average is required in all courses counted toward the minor. Students should contact the director for a list of current designated courses.
