FNA 103 - Pop Divas and the Art of Performance

Interdisciplinary exploration of star singers in American popular culture, from Jenny Lind to Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and beyond. Focus on the evolution of theatrical components in stage performances, musical and lyrical analysis, fan and media reception, and the metaphorical “performance” of the celebrity self. Selected topics may vary by semester.
