NSG 454 - Genomics and Ethical Considerations This course will introduce human genomics related to provision of patient and family centered health care across the lifespan. Nurses are in an ideal position to facilitate patients and families to make sense of, respond to, and use the information they receive during the genetic testing experience. This is not a course in basic genetics, rather the focus is on the nurse’s role in clinical application of a working knowledge of human genetics. Using ethical principles, students will be encouraged to critically examine the social, legal, cultural, political, and professional implications of the integration of genomics into health care practices.
