Survey of Jewish history from the expulsion of the Jews from Spain to the modern era. Examination of how the different Jewish communities worldwide have met the challenges of a modernizing world. Topics include emancipation, religious reform and secularization, mass migrations, anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, and the founding of modern Israel. 3
