EDN 521 - Diverse Families and Children in Communities Course Description: This course is designated to provide an overview of key theories and concepts in cultural diversity, and specifically examine the role of culture in shaping perspectives, experiences and opportunities of families and communities. The impact of social context factors such as race, ethnicity, culture, gender and economic status, religion, sexual orientation, and ability on knowledge bases, socialization and residential patterns and educational opportunity will also be studied as well as implications for access, equity, and equality in communities and society.
