NSG 634 - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care Course Description: The focus of this course is acquisition of knowledge, skills, and experience to develop theoretical foundation for diagnosis and treatment for children, adolescents and families who present with both common and complex psychiatric mental health problems. Psychotherapy and psychopharmacology will enhance the framework for treatment specific to the child, adolescent and family unit. Students will analyze theories, techniques, and research relevant to therapeutic interventions with children experiencing mental health problems. Mental health promotion and illness prevention is emphasized.
