CMR 581 - Hazard Mitigation Planning Course Description: This course examines what is known about natural and technological hazards, disasters, recovery, and mitigation. Students will be exposed to the concept of “all-hazards approach,” the impacts hazards and disasters have on communities and societies, methodologies for assessing physical and social vulnerability, and mitigation and recovery planning processes. Students are engaged in practical mitigation and recovery strategies as they relate to planning and plan development, vulnerability assessments concepts and methods, and the collaboration between public and private sectors to build communities that are disaster resilient and sustainable.
