SOC 547 - Sociology of Education Course Description: Advanced analysis of the social structures and processes both affecting and characteristic of education in modern societies. Topics include: education’s role in the socialization process; the ways in which education is both a product and producer of social stratification; variability in racial experiences in education; human, social, and cultural capital; social and cultural change and their impact on education.
