Graduate Coordinator: Dr. Ray Pastore
This 18 credit hour graduate certificate program in Multimedia and Web Development (MWD) is designed to meet the needs of professionals who are interested in improving their knowledge and skills of designing and developing dynamic, interactive multimedia, 3 dimensional (3D) digital content such as virtual reality (VR) and publishing them on various media platforms. The certificate program serves individuals (K-12 educators, corporate trainers, etc.) who do not wish to earn a Master of Science degree but desire to expand their knowledge and skills in designing and developing dynamic and engaging multimedia content for multiple devices/media outlets using the latest authoring and publishing tools and web programming technologies.
Advancement in digital communications, online learning, virtual reality, learning with multimedia agents, mobile and web marketing, social media, and content management systems have created a demand for educators, content developers, communication professionals among many others to have a much broader knowledge of multimedia design principles and development skills. Instructional designers, web designers, content developers, e-book writers and creators of other multimedia content have to respond to the needs of developing digital content that is dynamic, interactive and engaging without adding to the cognitive load of the viewers. The Certificate in Multimedia and Web Development responds to this need by providing a foundation in interactive digital content creation and enhancing professional expertise in today’s high-tech communication environment.
