Degree Requirements for Special Education:
University Studies:
Students should follow university studies requirements of the University of North Carolina Wilmington as outlined in the Academic Programs section of the catalogue.
The major in special education requires 84 credit hours in education for the general curriculum track and 82 credit hours in the adapted curriculum track. General Curriculum Track:

Note:
Admission to the Watson College of Education is required for enrollment in EDN/SED 300- and 400-level courses numbered higher than EDN 303 or SED 250 . A grade of “C-” or better is required in all professional courses in the Special Education Program – General Curriculum Track. Students may repeat courses in which they earned a grade lower than “C-” only with the permission of the dean of the Watson College of Education. A cumulative grade point average of 2.70 is required for eligibility for the practicum semester. Adapted Curriculum Track:
