HST 389 - History of Palestine and Israel

Historical survey of the region from the nineteenth century through the present. The rise and spread of Zionism and Arab nationalism; the British Mandate; the uprising of 1936; 1949 and establishment of Israel; the wars of 1967 and 1973; the rise of the PLO and struggle with Lebanon; the intifada and the Oslo Accords; Jewish and Islamic extremism.
