GLS 534 - Culture Wars and the Origin of Difference Course Description: Intensive study of significant themes in the literature on the encounter of European peoples with the Third World. Interdisciplinary and anthropological readings focus on explanations for the origin of cultural differences, the dynamics of the colonial encounter, the contemporary clash of cultures, and multiculturalism.
