CHM 486 - Fundamentals of Heterocycles with Emphasis on Pharmaceuticals

Prerequisite: CHM 212 with a grade of ‘C’ or better. Well over half of all known organic compounds and most pharmaceuticals are heterocyles (containing an atom other than C in the ring), yet their chemistry is hardly touched on in conventional courses. Topics include the nomenclature, properties, synthesis, and pharmaceutical applications of heterocycles.
