GER 334 - The Origins of Modern Love Credits: 3 Creation and development of the notion of love from antiquity through the Middle Ages to the present. Formation of the modern Western concept of romantic love with particular focus on the German contribution to the pan-European love discourse. Discussion topics cover marriage, adultery, violence, power, and gender roles. Taught in English.
