Musicianship (2 Credit Hours)

Music majors take MUS 111. Non-music majors take MUS 145 unless they demonstrate music literacy on the theory placement exam administered by the Department of Music. 

• Choose one of the following:

• MUS 111  -  Theory I
• MUS 145  -  Musicianship for Musical Theatre

Applied Voice Lessons (4 Credit Hours)

Placement in MUS 195 or MUS 196 determined by audition for the Department of Music voice faculty. Music majors take MUS 196; all other students take MUS 195.

• Four credit hours of applied voice lessons (either MUS 195  or MUS 196 ) 

• MUS 195  -  Lower Level Applied Music, Private Lessons
• MUS 196  -  Lower Level Applied Music, Private Lessons

Musical Theatre Performance (3 Credit Hours)

Required for all students:

• MUS 334  -  Musical Theatre Performance Techniques

• And 2 credits from the following:

• MUS 335  -  Musical Theatre Workshop (2 semesters @ 1 credit hour per semester)
• MUS 336  -  Musical Theatre Production (1 semester @ 2 credit hours, by audition only)

History and Literature (3 Credit Hours)

• MUS 341  -  American Musical Theatre

Dance (6 Credit Hours)

Required for all students:

• DAN 237  -  Musical Theatre Dance

Acting (3 Credit Hours)

Theatre majors in the performance option take THR 231; all other students take THR 230.
