The Department of World Languages and Cultures offers a minor in Spanish. While working towards advanced-level language proficiency in the language, students will become knowledgeable about language, linguistics, cultures, history, and artistic production of the Spanish-speaking world. The following combination of skills are acquired through campus study as well as opportunities for applied learning, study abroad, internships, and service learning: language proficiency; intercultural competence; critical thinking; creative problem-solving, and adaptability. Spanish minors can successfully navigate the world and are well-prepared for a variety of professions in fields including business, government and politics, engineering, law, education, healthcare, scientific research and development, social work, and tourism, among others.
