Sociology is the study of social life, social change and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociologists investigate the structure of groups, organizations, and societies and how people interact within these contexts. The program offers a comprehensive introduction to human society and social interaction, emphasizing both theoretical understanding and practical qualitative and quantitative research skills. A major in sociology provides students with the tools to understand how human behavior is shaped by group life and how individuals, in turn, shape society.
