The certification is a 12-credit hour program designed for instructional designers, educators, and educational technologists who seek to explore and integrate cutting-edge technologies into their instructional practices. This program will equip learners with the knowledge and skills to leverage disruptive technologies such as Virtual/Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence guided teaching and learning as well as other technologies to enhance learning experiences, improve engagement, and facilitate personalized learning. By focusing on both the theoretical and practical aspects of these technologies, students will learn how to assess, select, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of various technological innovations in educational and training settings.

Objectives
- Select disruptive technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, gamification/game-based learning, and adaptive learning systems,) into educational and training contexts to solve instructional problems.
- Explain the principles and functionalities of disruptive technologies in various learning environments.
- Apply selected disruptive technologies to create interactive and engaging instructional solutions.
- Implement adaptive learning technologies to design personalized learning experiences.
- Examine ethical considerations and challenges associated with the use of disruptive technologies, including data privacy, accessibility, and equity.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree completed from an accredited U.S. college or university, or its equivalent in a foreign institution based on a four-year program.
- Transcripts of all prior university or college coursework (undergraduate and graduate);
- Three recommendations by individuals in professionally relevant fields; and
- Statement of Interest Essay that describes the applicant’s reasons for pursuing the Certificate in Disruptive and AI-enhanced Technologies in Instructional Design.
