Digital Arts, B.A.

The B.A. in Digital Arts is an interdisciplinary major combining courses from the Departments of Art and Art History and Computer Science. The program develops students’ technical, aesthetic, design, programming, analytical, and problem-solving skills. It prepares them to work in computer-art and design-related fields such as mobile-application and web design, game development, 3D modeling and animation, visual effects, interactive media, and other emerging opportunities at the cross-section of computer technology and the arts. The curriculum also provides a foundation needed to pursue research at the graduate level in areas such as graphics, virtual reality, simulation, and human-computer interaction.

Oral Communication Requirement:


To satisfy the oral communication requirement for the B.A. Degree in Digital Arts, a student must successfully complete an oral defense of their final project for ART 496  or any other approved oral intensive course.

Applied Learning Requirement:


To satisfy the applied learning requirement for the B.A. degree in Digital Arts, a student must successfully complete ART 496 .

Requirements for a Major in Digital Arts for the B.A. Degree:


Core Art History Courses (9 credit hours)


Core Math Courses (8 credit hours)


Electives (9 credit hours)


Choose 3 classes from the following list of approved electives.

Total: 70 credit hours


Additional Information


A grade point average of ‘C’ (2.0) or better computed over all the courses used to fill the requirements of the major are required.
