Native American Studies Minor

The College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts offers an interdisciplinary minor in Native American studies (NAS). This minor provides students with a multicultural understanding of the histories, cultures, religions, arts, and literatures of American Indians. Students should contact the coordinator in the Department of English for additional information.

Requirements for a Minor in Native American Studies:

Core:

HST 336 - American Indian History to 1900 Credit Hours: 3 or
HST 337 - American Indian History after 1900 Credit Hours: 3
ENG 356 - Indigenous American Literature Credit Hours: 3
ANT 304 - Domestication: Dogs, Cats, and Barley Credit Hours: or
ANT 305 - North American Indians Credit Hours: 3

Electives:

9 additional credits from

ANT 307 - Archaeology of the Americas Credit Hours: 3

Additional Information:

Students must earn at least a “C” (2.00) average in courses counted for a minor in Native American studies.
