Coastal Engineering, B.S.

The B.S. Coastal Engineering program teaches students to address critical issues affecting coastal communities around the world by applying fundamentals of engineering in a problem-based learning environment. The program focuses on foundational courses in mathematics, statics, and fluid mechanics and specialized courses in coastal processes, numerical modeling, and field techniques. Students are prepared for careers in consulting, local, state, and federal government, and cutting-edge research.

Oral Communication Requirement:

To satisfy the oral communication requirement for the B.S. degree in Coastal Engineering, a student must successfully complete EGN 495 .

Applied Learning Requirement:

To satisfy the applied learning requirement for the B.S. degree in Coastal Engineering, a student must successfully complete EGN 495 .

Additional Information:

Students must attain a grade point average of “C” (2.00) or better computed overall the courses used to fulfill the requirements of the major, and a grade of “C-” or better for each EGN course used to fill the requirements of the major.

Note:

Students interested in the B.S. degree in Coastal Engineering are strongly advised to take the MAT 161 and EGN 101 in the fall of the freshman year.
