Latin American Studies Minor

The College of Arts and Sciences offers an interdisciplinary minor in Latin American studies. The minor provides students with a multifaceted understanding of the Latin American society by learning languages, history, anthropology, geography, politics and current events. The minor is designed for students who are considering careers which involve business relations with Latin America, working in Latin America, working with Latin Americans who are living in the United States, or teaching about Latin America. Students should contact the coordinator in the Department of Anthropology for additional information.

In addition, students must complete:


  • a Spanish or Portuguese course at the 300 level or higher.

Total: 21 hours


Additional Information:


Substitutions will be approved for topic courses, seminars, field work, and/or study abroad that focus primarily on Latin American issues. Students must have a “C” (2.00) in all courses counted toward the minor in Latin American Studies.
