Dr. Katherine Montwieler, director.
The College of Arts and Sciences offers an interdisciplinary minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. The minor provides diverse intellectual frameworks for investigating issues related to women, gender, and sexuality, including the history and function of gender roles, the construction of gendered identity in diverse cultural contexts, the experience of masculinity and femininity across the lifespan, patterns and consequences of discrimination, and the development of organized women’s social movements. Students augment core requirements with coursework in anthropology, classics, criminology, English, health, history, philosophy and religion, political science, psychology, social work, and sociology. Students should contact the director of Women’s Studies and Resource Center for additional information.
