The Department of History offers a broad-based program of study leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in history. Specific goals of the undergraduate program include: (1) training the minds and imaginations of those who study history; (2) introducing students to worlds, times, places, and cultures – including their own – in ways they may never have before considered; and (3) promoting the acquisition of critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. The program inludes rich opportunities for students to engage in study abroad, experience an internship, or explore areas of particular interest. An innovative curriculum offers team taught courses, small group tutorials and one-on-one research with faculty.
