GGY 438 - Geoarchaeology A survey of the interdisciplinary field of geoarchaeology, broadly defined as the application of geoscience techniques to archaeological sites, materials and problems. Topics include historical interactions between geoscientists and archaeologists, formation of sediments and soils, principles of geological and archaeological stratigraphy, site discovery and analysis by geospatial methods, age dating methods, paleoenvironmental analysis as archaeological context, and mineralogical and microscopic analysis of archaeological materials.
Credit Hours: 3
Prerequisite Courses: GGY 130 or GGY 230 or ANT 207 or consent of instructor. Course Repeatability: Course may not be repeated. Maximum Repeatable Hours: 3
