HST 386 - History of the Ottoman Empire

Prerequisite: Any HST course or consent of the instructor. Historical survey of the Ottoman Empire from the 14th century through the destruction of the Empire and WWI. Topics include origins of the Ottoman state, ruling institutions, diplomacy/foreign relations, women/family life, religion/minorities, life in the provinces, and reform.
