Prerequisite: Any HST course or consent of instructor. The history of England from Waterloo to the present. Emphasis on the impact of industrialization and urbanization, the gradual democratization of British politics, the expansion and contraction of the British Empire, the impact of world war, the rise of the welfare state, and post-industrial society.
