GLY 489 - Contemporary Issues in Geoscience Credit Hours: 3 Prerequisites: Senior standing with a major in geology, geoscience, geography, oceanography and/or environmental science, and completion of 15 hours of courses in the major above the 199 level. Examines current problems based on Earth-systems approach utilizing a combination of field, laboratory, and literature study. Emphasizes application of prior geological knowledge and problem solving skills in the context of individual or small group student research projects under direct faculty supervision. Requires written reports and oral presentations of results in approved professional format. Three lecture hours per week.
