Prerequisite or corequisite: FST 205 or permission of instructor. Japanese cinema from the classical period to the present day. Emphasizes critical and historical approaches to Japanese cinema, as well as studies of key filmmakers, including Kurosawa, Mizoguchi, Ozu, Suzuki, and Kitano.
