SPN 550 - Teaching College SpanishCredits: (3)
Exploration of relevant areas of foreign language research and their application to Spanish instruction at the college level. Readings, lectures, and practical demonstrations will expose students to second language acquistion theories and the principles of proficiency. Students will work with a variety of approaches to communicative language teaching, with a focus on the proficiency-oriented approach. They will explore classroom techniques designed to develop listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills while integrating culture. Approaches to developing and implementing testing and incorporating technology will also be highlighted.
