EGN 102 - Introduction to Coastal Engineering


Introduction to the field of coastal engineering and its relationship to other engineering disciplines (civil, structural, environmental) and sciences (geology, oceanography). Basic wave mechanics, tide theory, coastal storm processes and sediment transport processes will be examined to form a basic understanding of coastal erosion and approaches to address coastal erosion. Emphasis will be placed on collaborative social and environmental problem solving including introduction to coastal management and policies.
