Dear Graduate Students,

It is a great honor to join our faculty and staff in welcoming you to the University of North Carolina Wilmington. We are pleased that you have chosen to pursue your graduate studies at UNCW, an institution committed to applied learning, research, community engagement and excellence.

UNCW’s outstanding reputation continues to earn accolades for high quality, affordability and service to military-affiliated students from U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review and The Education Trust, among others. Recently, UNCW was selected for inclusion in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2017, which highlights the nation’s “best and most interesting” colleges and universities.

UNCW offers a plethora of programs and services to enrich your education. Our faculty and staff stand ready to help you achieve your goals, whether it’s developing new skills to advance your career, delving further into scholarly research or fulfilling a dream to attain a graduate degree. 

You have joined a community of scholars, and we appreciate the unique experiences and expertise you bring to the university. I encourage you to take time to build relationships with your faculty mentors; their expertise is invaluable and they will be important advocates. Also, get involved on campus and in the community. Service to our community, state and beyond is a core part of the university’s mission.
