MAT 376 - Introduction to Optimization


Introduction to linear and nonlinear optimizations, emphasizing the underlying mathematical structures, geometric ideas, algorithms, and solutions of practical problems. Topics covered include: formulations, the geometry of linear optimization, duality theory, the simplex method, sensitivity analysis, integer programming, and network flows, optimal conditions for unconstrained and constrained optimizations, and numerical method for nonlinear optimization.

Credit Hours: 3

Prerequisite Courses: MAT 261  and MAT 335
