Prerequisite: Any HST course or consent of instructor. The transition in America from a pre-industrial rural society to an industrial urban society. This course explores the effect urbanization had upon America’s social, political and economic institutions and concludes with an examination of how the “revolution” in transportation and technology shaped the design of American cities.
